While everyone who holds stocks or has a 401(k) can appreciate the need for business efficiency and increased profits, at what point does society say, "The employment of citizens trumps measurable efficiency and profit?" And I say that as someone who has a business friendly disposition and has regularly supported political candidates with the same outlook.

What other business functions would lend themselves to automation? I would think finance is a likely candidate, as tax codes are clearly defined and based on simple math, with exceptions to that simple math being clearly defined and codified in law. Will accountants and those others involved in corporate finance, go silently into the good night?
It's a question I believe we had better consider, and sooner rather than later, lest we all be on UBI.
